Scrapbooking is the hobby of combining photographs, memorabilia, and stories in a scrapbook style photo album. The hobby focuses on the use of archival quality products to ensure preservation of these important keepsakes. The album that you create is a reflection of who you are, and is a record of your life, and your family's life. Scrapbooking enables you to create an album which will document family events and be treasured by future generations.
While the hobby of Scrapbooking is new to New Zealand, the idea of documenting and recording events in our lives has been in practice for centuries. Fortunately we now have the advantage of scientific knowledge in the area of photo preservation, and are able to determine which products are safe to use in our albums to give our photos the best opportunity to last for generations; because of this our future generations can now be spared the yellowed, faded colour photos that our ancestors have passed onto us.
